Mich. delegation wants recovery cash for home state

The Michigan congressional delegation wrote President Obama’s Director of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers on Wednesday, asking him to push for investments under the Recovery Act for projects in their state.

“We do believe that you…must play an important role in drawing attention to the difficulties experienced throughout the auto sector and the auto communities,” the lawmakers wrote Dr. Ed Montgomery, the Director of Recovery who is set to visit Michigan this week.

“Our communities are working tirelessly to stabilize local neighborhoods, re-develop automotive facilities and diversify their local economies,” the members wrote. “It is essential that the Recovery Act fully and across a wide spectrum of programs support their efforts during these difficult times.”

An attachment from the members lists a number of proposed programs under a variety of federal agencies, ranging from the EPA to the Department of Health and Human Services. A full copy of the lawmakers’ letter to Montgomery is after the jump.
