Burris Presides Over Senate

The embattled Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) is still taking care of day to day responsibilities, presiding late Wednesday afternoon over the Senate.

As senators debated a gunowners’ rights bill, Burris sat by, tending to the tedious jobs often delegated to more junior members of the body.

Burris, who’s been asked by his state’s senior senator, Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) to resign, had also made a speech on the floor recently — another time-honored tradition of the upper chamber.
