Facing two investigations, Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) said Thursday that his legal fees have now reached $500,000, the Associated Press reports.
Burris is being investigating by the Sangamon County state attorney’s for discrepancies in his testimony before a state panel. The Senate Ethics Committee is also conducting a proble into his appointment to the Senate by indicted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D).
Last month, Burris set up a legal fund to help him tackles the costs. At that time, he said his legal fees totaled $400,000.
