Newly sworn in Rep. Scott Murphy (D-N.Y.) is picking up right where his predecessor, now Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), left off by serving on the same committees.
Murphy’s office announced Thursday that Murphy will sit on the House Agriculture and Armed Services Committees.
Murphy defeated Republican New York Assemblyman Jim Tedisco in a drawn out special election for Gillibrand’s former House seat in upstate New York.
“I am proud and honored to continue the important work of Sen. Gillibrand in Congress, who previously served on the House Agriculture and Armed Services Committees,” Murphy said in a statement. “I look forward to being a strong voice in Congress on behalf of our large Agricultural community in the 20th District.”
