Mark-up of the healthcare bill unveiled by Sens. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) Tuesday will begin Tuesday, June 16, Democrats on the the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee announced.
Republicans and Democrats on the HELP Committee will meet tomorrow and Thursday to hammer out details of the legislation, including the proposed employer mandate, and the “public option.” (Republicans say it is a “government-run” option.)
There will be a hearing on the bill Thursday afternoon, the committee’s Democrats announced, while the bill’s sure-to-be arduous mark-up will begin on Tuesday.
