Smith: Obama ‘the abortion president’

Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), one of the most ardently pro-life members of Congress, had some harsh words for President Obama today.

“Mr. Obama is on his way to becoming the abortion president,” Smith said on the House floor. “Virtually everything he has done through executive order, and through appointments, and through other policies promote the killing of unborn children and the wounding their mothers.”

Smith’s remarks came during a floor speech lamenting that the House would not vote on an amendment he offered. His amendment would have restricted the administration’s Office of Global Women’s Issues from engaging in certain abortion-related activities.

Smith did not specify which of Obama’s actions he had in mind when labeling him “the abortion president.”
