Va. Paper: Rep. Cantor for Vice President
A Richmond Times-Dispatch columnist is making the case for Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) as John McCain’s running mate.
Much of the McCain veep speculation has focused on the GOP’s young governors, including Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty, South Carolina’s Mark Sanford, Alaska’s Sarah Palin and Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal. But columnist Bob Rayner writes that Cantor, his hometown congressman, deserves consideration.
“Rep. Eric Cantor is 44. McCain is 71,” Rayner writes. “As a member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, Cantor brings the clout and experience on economic and tax issues that many believe McCain lacks.”
