Obama to tour historic Turkish mosques
President Obama will tour two of Turkey’s most historic mosques before leaving Europe, the White House announced Monday.
Obama will join Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on a tour of the Hagia Sophia and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (a.k.a., The Blue Mosque). The Blue Mosque is the national mosque of Turkey.
The move represents a symbolic gesture for Obama, who has made outreach to the Muslim world an early emphasis in his presidency and in his trip abroad to Europe.
