Bush to Meet With Obama, Discusses Transition Plans

President George Bush will meet with his successor, President-elect Barack Obama at the White House early next week, according to various media reports.

“I look forward to discussing those issues with the President-Elect early next week,” Bush told Executive Office employees during a meeting on the White House’s South Lawn this morning.

Bush said that his administration had approved security clearances for members of the Obama transition team, and that departments under his authority have prepared for an efficient transition for over a year now.

“In the coming weeks, we will ask administration officials to brief the Obama team on ongoing policy issues, ranging from the financial markets to the war in Iraq,” Bush said.
