Pelosi: Historians to Judge Obama as ‘Remarkable’
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other top House Democrats lauded President Obama for his leadership on the stimulus bill just minutes after it won the House’s approval Friday.
“Barack Obama, in just a few short weeks as president, has passed one of the biggest packages for economic relief in our country,” said Pelosi during a news conference. She noted that the stimulus has “one of the biggest tax cuts” and has long-term investments.
“American people will know and historians will judge that this is one remarkable president,” she said.
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that passage of the stimulus bill shows that America’s belief in Obama’s campaign for change “has been affirmed.”
“We are yet to pass the 30th day in this administration,” Hoyer said. “We have passed historic legislation.”
