Google Execs Back Obama Transition

Top Google executives have been major contributors to President-elect Barack Obama’s transition project, donor disclosures released by the Obama-Biden team showed Monday.

Google executives have contributed a total of $14,200 to the Obama-Biden transition project. The donations have come from the web powerhouse’s CEO, two vice presidents, and four employees of the company.

The Chairman and CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, along with two of Google’s Vice Presidents and four employees have donated a total of $14,200 to The Obama-Biden Transition project.

Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt donated a maximum $5,000 to the transition, followed by Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations, David Fischer, who donated $3,000 to the Transition project.

Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist Vinton Cerf and consultant Juliette Gimon both donated $2,500, while four other employees made donations ranging from $200 to $500.

For Fischer, Gimon and Schmidt this was their first time making a donation supporting Obama’s campaign.

Schmidt officially endorsed Obama in late October after acting as an unofficial advisor on his campaign. As a company, Google remained neutral throughout the presidential campaign; Google’s press department was not immediately available for comment Monday.
