Obama: I’m Not Addicted to Summits
The president of the United States is not, in fact, afflicted by a rare disease causing him to stage elaborate, wonky meetings in his home, the president of the United States said Monday.
President Obama closed a day-long White House fiscal reform summit with lawmakers and experts by announcing that he plans to have a whole new summit next week, this time on health reform.
“It’s not that I’ve got ‘summit-it-is here,'” Obama said, no doubt forestalling an incipient controversy about his failure to disclose a rare medical condition during the presidential campaign.
The president did not say what kind of summit he wants to have two weeks from now, though he did ominously declare, “We think that it’s very important to have some forums.”
