Portman rakes in $1.7M
Former Rep. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) raised $1.7 million in the second quarter in his bid to replace retiring Sen. George Voinovich (R) next year, he announced Wednesday.
Portman also announced he has $4.3 million cash on hand, which includes over $1 million that he transferred from his former Hose account.
Portman’s report shows he has gained an edge on the Democratic field. Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher (D) raised $900,000 in the second quarter. Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner (D) has yet to say how much she raised, but she had a terrible first quarter in fundraising.
Fisher raised $1 million in the first quarter.
