Palin: Taking my fight in new direction
In her press conference announcing her resignation, Sarah Palin pledged to stay active in Alaskan politics.
“I love my job and l love Alaska, and it hurts to make this choice,” Palin said, adding that she was “doing what’s best for Alaska.”
“I’m taking my fight for what’s right for Alaska in a new direction,” Palin added, raising questions about what future campaigns she might be planning on.
Palin cited a recent controversy surrounding her son Trig as a motivating factor in her decision to step down.
“Trig was mocked and ridiculed by some pretty mean spirited adults recently,” Palin said. (Read about that controversy here.)
The Governor said the decision had been in the works for a while and was finalized after consultation with her family.
When she asked her husband and children whether she would resign, there were “four yesses, and one ‘hell yeah,’ and the ‘hell yeah sealed it,'” Palin said. “Someday I’ll talk about that.”
