Va. station refuses to air NRCC ad
A Roanoke TV station is refusing to air an ad by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) attacking Rep. Tom Perriello (D-Va.).
The ad takes Perriello to task for supporting the climate change bill that past the House last week.
WDBJ-TV would not comment on their decision, but the DCCC is already pouncing, claiming that factual inaccuracies kept the ad off the air.
“The NRCC has a track record of running ads so deceptive and misleading that local TV stations refuse to air them or have to remove from the airwaves,” said Jessica Santillo, a spokeswoman for the NRCC.
Factcheck.org examined the ad and concluded that Republicans had overestimated the cost Waxman-Markey would impose on each American family. (The NRCC had cited a Washington Times editorial, which took its figures from a Heritage Foundation study.)
The ad is still airing in other stations in the same media market.
