Perry raises $4.2M in 9 days for Texas Gov. reelect
Things seem to be going well for Texas Gov. Rick Perry. First, he has tipped polls over and now leads Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison by 12 points in the GOP gubernatorial primary.
And second, he hauled in $4.2 million in the second quarter for his reelection campaign, the Dallas Morning News reports.
The kicker: He raised that money in only nine days. Texas state law prohibits the governor from raising money during the legislative and veto sessions. So Perry had nine days between the end of those sessions and the fundraising deadline.
His team is now saying he has $9.3 million in his warchest, according to the Morning News.
Texas state fundraising laws are far more lax than federal laws, but this is a pretty impressive haul nevertheless.
