McCain and Letterman Could Make Up

John McCain, who ticked off David Letterman last month, may return as a guest on “The Late Show” next week, reports The New York Post.

McCain was scheduled to give Letterman an interview two weeks ago, but the Republican presidential nominee canceled at the last minute when he suspended his campaign to focus on the bailout bill. Letterman responded by mocking McCain, who later appeared with Letterman’s CBS colleague Katie Couric. (See the video below.)

According to the newspaper, McCain representatives and “Late Show” executives are now talking about a McCain appearance possibly next week, when McCain will be in the New York metro area for the third presidential debate, to be held on Long Island on Oct. 15.
