MoveOn and ‘Gossip Girls’ Stars: Tell Parents to Vote Obama
MoveOn.org has a new ad that features ‘Gossip Girls’ stars urging young viewers to tell their parents to vote for Barack Obama.
Penn Badgley and Blake Lively, who star in The CW teen drama, appear in the spot along with other young actors. It’s a take-off on the public service announcements in which parents profess to talk straight to their kids about a controversial issue. But instead of cautioning people against drugs or drunk driving, the actors warn against voting Republican.
The spot will air during “Gossip Girls” and on MTV and Comedy Central. Underscoring the new electoral map, MoveOn also plans to air the ad in college towns in North Carolina and Nevada, two states won by President Bush in 2000 and 2004.
