Republicans Buy Ads in Montana and West Virginia

Republicans are buying ad time to boost John McCain in the traditionally red states of Montana and West Virginia.

The Republican National Committee is spending $300,000 in Montana, which President Bush won 59 percent to 39 percent in 2004, reports The Wall Street Journal. Republicans also plan to buy ad time in West Virginia, which Bush won over Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) 56 percent to 43 percent, according to The Swamp’s Frank James.

The need to buy ads in those states serves as more evidence of Barack Obama and Democrats’ success in expanding the electoral map this year, writes James. The ads also come just before Obama plans to air a 30-minute ad in on prime-time network television on Wednesday.
