Ariz. Republic: Race Neck and Neck in McCain’s Home State

Polls in Arizona show that John McCain may have to defend his home state.

McCain leads Barack Obama 46 percent to 44 percent according to the latest Arizona State University poll. McCain’s lead is within the three percentage point margin of error.

“One would think McCain would still carry Arizona, but anybody who says they can predict the state this time, they can’t. It’s going to depend on who goes to the polls,” said Tara Blanc, the poll’s director, in the Arizona Republic.

Noting other polls showing McCain holding a slight lead, the Republic declared the race is “neck and neck.”

The Pollster.com trend line of Arizona has McCain ahead 48.5 percent to 42.1 percent.
