Small Majority Wants Palin to Exit Spotlight

A majority of Americans would not like to see Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) remain a major figure in national politics going forward, according to a new Gallup poll.

52 percent of those surveyed said they would not like to have Palin remain in the national spotlight, while 45 percent of voters said they would. Palin fared much better amongst those in her own party: 76 percent of Republicans said they would like to see Palin remain a national political figure.

Americans are similarly divided when it comes to Palin’s overall image. 48 percent of voters said they had an overall favorable impression of the former Republican vice presidential candidate, while 47 percent said they had an unfavorable view of Palin.

Palin has waged a media blitz this week seeking to increase her visibility and image with voters among speculation that she may become a candidate for the Senate or presidency in coming years.

The poll, conducted November 7-9, has a three percent margin of error.
