Cheney to Aid Louisiana House Candidate

Vice President Dick Cheney will travel to Louisiana to help raise funds for Republican House candidate Dr. John Fleming this Friday, attending a fundraiser for the candidate in Shreveport, according to Cheney’s office.

Fleming’s race against Democrat Paul Carmouche was postponed by Hurricane Gustav, which pushed back primaries in Louisiana’s fourth and second districts. Fleming emerged as the GOP’s candidate after a Nov. 4 primary; Fleming and Carmouche will face off Dec. 6.

Cheney will attend a private, invitation-only fundraiser around lunchtime in Shreveport Friday, according to Cheney’s office.

Fleming and Carmouche are seeking the seat held by 11-term Rep. Jim McCrery (R), who is retiring.
