McAuliffe Launches Radio Ads in Va. Governor’s Race

Two days after former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Terry McAuliffe aired a television ad in Virginia during the Super Bowl, the Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate has released two new radio ads focusing on job creation and renewable energy solutions.

The two 60-second radio advertisements come as the U.S. economy continues to slide deeper into a recession. One of the ads focuses on McAuliffe’s ability to “grow Virginia’s economy,” and create new jobs.

“As your Governor, I’ll make it my job to protect your job for you and your family,” McAuliffe says in one of the ads.

The second ad focuses on McAuliffe’s belief that Virginia can be the “nation’s leader in investing in renewable energy solutions.”

Both ads will be airing on adult urban contemporary, gospel and religious radio stations in the Norfolk and Richmond media markets.

McAuliffe began airing television commercials last week in Hampton Roads, Va. and a 30-second television commercial was spotted in Norfolk during the third quarter of the Super Bowl, according to the Washington Post.

The Post reported that McAuliffe is believed to be earliest statewide candidate to launch a paid media campaign and also likely the first statewide candidate in Virginia to have a Super Bowl commercial.

The ads come four months before McAuliffe will face former Virginia Delegate Brian Moran (D) and State Sen. Creigh Deeds in the Virginia Democratic primary on June 3 of this year.
