Poll: Christie Leads Corzine for N.J. Gov.
A new poll shows New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D) trailing former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie (R) in his race for re-election this year.
The poll, conducted by Quinnipiac from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2, found that Christie, who has announced his candidacy, leads Corzine in a head-to-head matchup. Forty-four percent of respondents said they would back Christie in a race against Corzine, while 38 percent said they support Corzine.
The survey marks a significant shift from the last Quinnipiac poll. In the middle of November, Corzine had a 42 percent to 36 percent lead.
The poll also showed that 54 percent of the 1,173 registered voters surveyed did not believe Corzine deserves to be re-elected. Thirty-three percent said he does.
