Moran, McAuliffe still neck and neck in Va. gov. race
The Democratic field for governor of Virginia stayed tight over the course of February, with former Democratic National Committee chair Terry McAuliffe taking a slight lead, according to a new poll.
The Public Policy Polling survey of 647 likely Virginia Democratic voters found that McAuliffe leads former Virginia Delegate Brian Moran (D) 21 percent to 19 percent. State Sen. Creigh Deeds (D) came in third with 14 percent and 46 percent remained undecided.
A poll by the same firm last month showed Moran and McAuliffe tied with 18 percent each, suggesting McAuliffe has made a small gain. McAuliffe’s lead in the new poll, though, is within the surveys 3.9 percent margin of erro.
