Obama to Hold Election Night Party in Chicago’s Grant Park

Barack Obama will hold his election night event in Grant Park in Chicago, the campaign announced this afternoon.

The park sits along Lake Shore Drive next to Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago and is home to several athletic fields. It is the site of three of Chicago’s most prominent institutions–the Art Institute, the Field Museum of Natural History, and the Shedd Aquarium–and is “proudly referred to as ‘Chicago’s front yard,'” according to the Chicago Park District’s website.

The park is named after former President Ulysses S. Grant.
