Tauscher, Miller back DeSaulnier for CA-10
Even though Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-Calif.) hasn’t even vacated her seat yet, there have already been twists and turns in the race to replace her.
The latest came Thursday when Tauscher and Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) backed state Sen. Mark DeSaulnier (D) for the seat, according to the Contra Costa Times.
Tauscher has been selected for a post in the State Department.
DeSaulnier has been portrayed by pretty much all involved as the clear frontrunner in the race. In an interview with The Hill last weekend, DeSaulnier said he expected Miller’s support, as well as the support of most of the area’s Democratic establishment.
But DeSaulnier’s biggest competition for the seat, state Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan (D), released an internal poll Thursday that showed she has small lead in the race.
