Sen. Saxby Chambilss (R-Ga.) and Democrat Jim Martin could be headed to a runoff.
If no candidate receives a majority of the votes in Tuesday’s Senate race, Georgia law requires a Dec. 2 runoff between the top two vote-getters.
The current Pollster.com trend line of the race has Chambliss ahead of Martin 46.7 percent to 43.9 percent. Swing State Project notes that the two most recent polls, by Public Policy Polling and SurveyUSA, have Chambliss at 48 percent.
Only one of the eight surveys taken over the last two weeks has shown Chambliss above 50 percent. Libertarian Allen Buckley has received as much as 7 percent in recent surveys.
