DSCC donates Madoff money to his victims’ fund

The Democrats’ Senate campaign arm will give donations from convicted financier Bernard Madoff to a trust being established for victims of Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) will donate $100,000 in contributions from Madoff to a victims’ fund, its spokesman told CNN on Friday.

“It was under review. Now that the review is completed, we’ve decided to give the money to the trustee for distribution to the victims,” said DSCC spokesman Eric Schultz.

The campaign committee had received some mild criticism for having been slow to disavow itself from the former billionaire’s support.
