Kennedy on Obama: ‘Americans Heard His Call for a New Generation’
Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) issued a statement congratulating Democratic president-elect Barack Obama.
Kennedy’s endorsement of Obama over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) gave the Illinois senator a critical edge in his battle for their party’s presidential nomination. Kennedy, who was elected in 1962, is now battling brain cancer but has lately shown signs of improvement and was at his northern Virginia home on Tuesday night.
