Meek raises $1.5M in first quarter
Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.) announced Wednesday that his Senate campaign raised nearly $1.49 million in the last three months.
Meek benefited from two fundraisers with former President Bill Clinton (D) in which he reportedly hauled in about $400,000.
Meek is running for retiring Sen. Mel Martinez’s (R) seat. Other candidates include state Sen. Dan Gelber (D) and state House Speaker Marco Rubio (R). Gov. Charlie Crist (R) is rumored to be considering a run instead of seeking another term as governor. Should he jump into the race, he would likely be immediately considered the frontrunner.
