Poll: GOP narrows Dem advantage on generic ballot to 1 point

Republicans will likely enjoy this: A new Rasmussen poll shows Republicans trailing Democrats by only one point on the generic congressional ballot – 39 percent to 40 percent.

The weekly survey found that Republicans slightly narrowed the gap in the week of March 30 after trailing Democrats 42 percent to 28 percent the week before.

The poll is at odds with a New York Times/CBS News poll released on Tuesday that found respondents to have a strikingly negative view of the GOP. In that survey, only 31 percent had a favorable view of the Republican Party, its worst performance in that poll in 25 years.
