Wamp ‘Conflicted’ on Run for Tenn. Governor

Rep. Zach Wamp (R-Tenn.) said Tuesday he is “conflicted” about whether or not he should run for governor in 2010, adding that he is waiting for former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) to announce his intentions before Wamp makes a decision.

Wamp told a Tennessee group that he was unsure whether he wanted to abandon focusing on national security issues in Congress for a more localized focus as governor of Tennessee.

“I’m equally conflicted,” Wamp said, according to the Chattanoogan. Wamp added that he is waiting to see if Frist decides to run for governor before he makes up his mind.

Two-term Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) is prevented from seeking reelection in 2010 due to term limits.
