Poll shows Watts competitive with Fallin for OK-GOV
Former Rep. J.C. Watts (R-Okla.) could throw a major wrench in Rep. Mary Fallin’s status as the frontrunner in Oklahoma’s governor race, according to a new poll from Wilson Research Strategies.
The poll shows the former congressman and Oklahoma University quarterback leading Fallin 39-36, with 21 percent of voters undecided and another 5 percent going for a third candidate, state Sen. Randy Brogdon.
For Watts, 19 percent would definitely vote for him, 15 percent would probably vote for him, and another 5 percent lean toward him. Those numbers for Fallin are 17, 15 and 4, respectively.
Fallin, the former lieutenant governor, has long had her eyes set on the governor’s mansion. Watts is currently weighing his options.
The results of this newest poll have to be more encouraging than an April Sooner Poll, which showed Fallin leading Watts, 45-26.
