Adult Film Star Could Oppose Vitter
David Vitter survived a sex scandal. Now he may have to defeat an adult film star to keep his seat in the Senate.
A mysterious effort is under way online to draft adult star Stormy Daniels to run against Vitter (R-La.) in 2010, as an organization called Draft Stormy for US Senate in 2010 has begun sending out press releases to political media, and Daniels herself will be conducting a round of interviews with press next week.
“Stormy
Vitter, who faced a widely publicized sex scandal in 2007, has largely rehabilitated his public image, resuming an active role in the policy and politics of Capitol Hill.
Both the Louisiana Democratic Party and GOP say they know nothing about who is behind the initiative. Vitter’s office could not be reached.
It appears to have something to do with a November Craigslist ad seeking a female challenger “with a history in some aspect of the adult entertainment industry who has taken the benefit of that experience both monetarily and otherwise and translated it into success in their later career.”
The ad promised that the chosen candidate would have an experienced campaign team working on her behalf, including finance and media teams.
The same anonymous Craigslist poster announced in late January that the search was over and the operation was staffing up, posting another notice to the free classified ad site “seeking energetic field organizers.”
The post gave no details as to who is responsible for the effort. The Draft Stormy site says it is not endorsed by Daniels or Wicked Pictures, an adult entertainment company that produces her work.
