Hutchison dines with Bush in Dallas

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), amid an effort to run for governor of Texas, met this past weekend with one of the most famous holders of that job: former President George W. Bush.

Hutchison and her husband dined Friday with Bush and former First Lady Laura at Dallas’s City Cafe, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Hutchison is preparing to challenge Bush’s successor as Texas governor, Republican Rick Perry, in a marquee primary matchup next year. Hutchison is being informally advised by former Bush political advisor Karl Rove.

According to the Morning News, Bush intends to stay neutral in the primary, though the Hutchisons and Bushes were joined by a supporter of both at dinner.
