Another conservative GOPer to challenge Specter

Right-wingers are lining up to challenge centrist Republican Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) in 2010. First, Specter’s former foe, Pat Toomey, is telling friends he is leaning toward running again. And now Peg Luksik, a conservative Republican that has previously run for governor, also appears ready to jump in the race.

The Tribune Democrat reports that Luksik, who made her last foray into politics nine years ago, plans to announce she will challenge Specter at the end of the month. Luksik, who the Tribune Democrat calls a “staunch conservative and anti-abortion advocate,” ran for governor in 1990 and has a history of not following to the state party line.

She ran for governor again in 1994 and 1998 as the candidate of the Constitution Party. She came in third in both of those races.
