Siena poll sparks statement war

The new Siena Research poll on the special election for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-N.Y.) has set off a statement war.

First, the Republican in the race, New York Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, wasted little time disputing the poll, which shows Democrat Scott Murphy having a 4-point lead.

Now, the New York Democrats have issued their own statement. State party Chairwoman June O’Neill says the the poll is a reflection of Murphy’s momentum.

Tedisco and Murphy square off in the special election next Tuesday.
