Saratoga set back for Tedisco

The latest vote count in the upstate New York special election shows Democrat Scott Murphy up 86 votes on Republican Jim Tedisco.

But the real news is Tedisco wasn’t able to close the gap on Murphy when absentee ballots in Saratoga County were counted. The county, which he carried on Election Day and is the largest in the district, may have been Tedisco’s best shot at closing the gap.

Now Tedisco will hope that challenged absentee ballots can put him over the top. There are about 1,200 of those ballots that were set aside but will now be counted following a judge’s ruling on Thursday.
