As a trio of Democrats duke it out (more and more ) for their party’s nomination in Virginia’s governor’s race, an independent group created to keep the pressure on Republican Bob McDonnell is up with its third ad.
The latest ad from Common Sense Virginia goes after Virginia’s former attorney general for his claims to be a “jobs governor.” It focuses on his opposition to Virginia accepting stimulus funds and some votes he made in the state legislature.
Democrats claim the money McDonnell has spent on an early TV advertising campaign is a direct result of Common Sense Virginia’s efforts.
The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) has contributed nearly $3 million to Common Sense Virginia, and the latest ad buy is a “significant, six figure, statewide buy,” according to a source.
The Democratic primary is set for June 9.
