A state senator and physician will add to the already-boiling Republican primary for Rep. Jerry Moran’s (R-Kan.) House seat.
State Sen. Jim Barnett (R) will announce his candidacy for the seat Tuesday, according to a release from his campaign.
State Sen. Tim Huelskamp and Rob Wasinger, a former aide to Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and businessman Tim Barker lead the pack so far.
“I am a medical doctor, and it has become increasingly clear to me it is time for the House of Representatives to receive a house call,” Barnett said in a statement. “Washington is out of control. I will
fight for everyday Kansans and roll my sleeves up to work on a prescription for prosperity for our nation.”
The district is highly conservative, meaning the winner of the primary is virtually assured of winning the general election.
