Palin gets round of applause at GOP dinner

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) wound up showing up to the House and Senate Republicans Dinner on Monday night after all.

Palin was originally announced as the keynote speaker for the dinner, but that turned out to be a miscommunication with her staff. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) was soon named her replacement.

Palin waved to the crowd from the stage alongside Gingrich and husband Todd Palin shortly before 8 p.m., receiving polite applause as the guests filtered into the dinner.
