Buffalo Bills require fans to show proof of vaccination to attend games

The Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday that their fans will need to have proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to attend games. 

The team posted on Twitter that people entering the stadium for games on Sept. 26 and Oct. 3 will need to have at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Starting Oct. 31, fans will need to be fully vaccinated to enter Highmark Stadium. There is no option to present a negative coronavirus test. 

The stadium’s masking requirement will be dropped once the policy takes effect, except for those under 12, who are not required or eligible to be vaccinated. 

The team said the decision was made to be in compliance with Erie County Department of Health directives.

The Buffalo Bills and the Las Vegas Raiders are the only two NFL teams so far to require vaccinations with no option of a negative test, The Associated Press reported.

The New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks require a vaccine but allow for a negative coronavirus test for those attending their games. 

The Bills’ move also comes after virtually no masks were worn by fans at their Sept. 12 game even though unvaccinated attendees were ostensibly required to wear them, the AP noted.
