A 6-year-old girl died at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Colorado after riding the Haunted Mine Drop ride, according to the Garfield County coroner’s office.
Garfield County Coroner Robert M. Glassmire announced the death of the girl Monday, saying her name won’t be released to give family members time to tell others.
The child died Sunday with park employees administering first aid following her riding the Haunted Mine Drop ride.
She was at the amusement park on vacation with her family.
The sheriff and coroner’s office are investigating the circumstances around her death with an autopsy scheduled with the coroner’s office forensic pathologist this week.
“Out of respect and concern for all parties involved, we will not have further comment until all details have been confirmed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved,” the park said in a statement on Facebook.
The park closed Monday and will also be closed Tuesday.
