Giuliani communications director resigns for role with tech startup

Rudy Giuliani’s communications director has resigned from her post to join a new tech startup company. 

Christianné Allen, 22, who joined Giuliani’s team in August 2019, announced her resignation from Giuliani Communications LLC effective this week, according to a statement Allen provided to The Hill. 

Allen said that she was “proud of the accomplishments we achieved,” especially the establishment of Giuliani’s “Common Sense” podcast which she said went “from conception to one of the top political podcasts in the country in under a year.”

“Looking forward, I once again feel blessed to have the opportunity for continued growth and development within a rising tech startup,” she said.

Allen added that she was not at liberty to reveal the name of the tech startup at this juncture, according to The Daily Beast, which first reported on Allen’s resignation.

Todd Shapiro of Shapiro Associates in New York will reportedly replace Allen. He is the former spokesperson for Lindsay Lohan’s family and also claimed to have represented Trump properties, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) and Hooters of Long Island and New Jersey.

Shapiro, according to CNN, has been working with Giuliani for the past six months.

“We are experts in crisis management. We have been doing this for over 25 years. The mayor is going to be fine,” Shapiro told CNN. He also said he is planning to use the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to remind people about Giuliani’s role in helping the city in the aftermath of the incident.

“I am out there to get the positive and the wonderful things that Giuliani is doing today,” he added.

Allen’s resignation comes at a precarious time for Giuliani, as the former New York City mayor is facing mounting legal troubles.

New York state and the District of Columbia suspended his law licenses in their jurisdictions for false statements he made when representing former President Trump and his campaign in their effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.

He is also the subject of a federal investigation looking into his dealings in Ukraine and his actions when he was pushing for that country to probe the Biden family.

Federal prosecutors executed a search warrant at his home and law office in April.

The Hill reached out to Giuliani and Shapiro for comment.
