Biden sister has book deal, set to publish in April

Valerie Biden Owens, the sister of President Biden and one of his closest political advisers, is set to publish a memoir next April following a book deal with Celadon Books.

The publisher confirmed to The Hill that Owens’s “Growing Up Biden: A Memoir” is set to be released on April 12, 2022.

According to an Amazon pre-order page, the memoir will include her memories of growing up in Delaware, helping raise Biden’s sons after his first wife and his daughter were killed in a car crash and her role in his political campaigns.

“Our family’s story is a very American one—full of joy but also shadowed by tragedy. What we Bidens learned long ago is a timeless lesson: that family matters, possibility can emerge from pain, and the ties that bind us together are stronger than anything that might pull us apart,” Owens said in a statement. “So this will be a story of one family—but our story, I hope, will resonate and inspire.”

Owens led all of Biden’s seven campaigns for U.S. Senate, according to her personal website. She also managed his runs at the presidency in 1988 and 2008, The Associated Press reported.

According to the AP, Washington, D.C.-based literary agency Javelin represented Owens. The AP noted that Javelin has worked with other big names, including former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and former FBI Director James Comey.
