George P. Bush backs GOP dumping Cheney

George P. Bush, the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), backed House Republicans for dropping Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from their leadership team, arguing that she was pushing a personal vendetta against former President Trump.

Republicans deserve leadership that represents the views of their constituents, not their own personal vendettas,” Bush, who is the Texas Land Commissioner, tweeted on Thursday.

We need leaders in Congress that stand up for conservative Republican ideology, and Liz Cheney is not that leader.” Bush added.

Cheney was voted out of her leadership position Wednesday due to criticisms that she was dividing the Republican Party and distracting from going after the Biden administration.

Bush, whose uncle President George W. Bush served with Cheney’s father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, said Liz Cheney should have been more focused on Democrats.

“So instead of training fire on the President, she really should have been firing on Biden and that agenda … that’s what you want out of your leadership, & unfortunately … she didn’t rise to the challenge,” Bush said.

Cheney has been openly critical of Trump and refused to go along with his election fraud conspiracy theories.

This led to clashes between Cheney and the former president that sparked calls for her to be removed from leadership. She was voted out of leadership in a voice vote which means it is unknown who voted for or against her ousting.
