Dodgers offering ‘fully vaccinated’ sections for fans

The Los Angeles Dodgers will offer “fully vaccinated” sections for fans.

The team said in a statement that two sections will be reserved at Dodger Stadium for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that at least two weeks have passed since their final dose.

The sections will also be reserved for children ages 2 to 15 years who have tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours of admission. Children under 2 will not need proof of a negative test.

Fans will be seated directly next to each other, meaning that social distancing will not be required. However, face coverings must be worn, except while actively eating and/or drinking.

Patrons who have tickets for a fully vaccinated section will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. Anyone with a ticket who cannot provide valid proof will not be permitted to enter the stadium.

The move comes as sports teams figure out ways to reopen with fans in stadiums while keeping them as safe as possible from COVID-19.

The San Francisco Giants have also opened a fully vaccinated section with much of the same requirements as the Dodgers.

The Miami Heat opened two vaccinated-only sections for their April 1 game against the Golden State Warriors, becoming the first NBA team to have such sections. But the team later stopped offering the section after it became an “operation challenge” to require proof of vaccination, according to The South Florida Sun Sentinel.
