Rodney Floyd says he’s feeling ‘tears of joy’ after Chauvin verdict

Rodney Floyd, George Floyd’s brother, said he is feeling “tears of joy” after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of the murder of George Floyd.

“I’m feeling tears of joy,” Rodney Floyd said on MSNBC. “We got our chance to go to trial. We took it all the way. This right here is for everyone who has been in this situation. Everybody.”

Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder on Tuesday. He was taken away in handcuffs and his bail has been revoked while he waits for sentencing.

The death of George Floyd last year caused protests to erupt all over the summer throughout the country against police brutality.

Rodney Floyd on Tuesday thanked Rev. Al Sharpton for being there for his family throughout the process.

“I know that we not done yet,” he said.

Many across the country celebrated as the guilty verdict was announced, but they also said there is more work to be done to reform policing in America.

President Joe Biden is delivering remarks on the jury’s decision in this case on Tuesday.
