Texas freeway shooting leaves one dead, five wounded

One person is dead and at least five people are injured after a shootout on a freeway in Fort Worth, Texas, police said.

Nineteen-year-old Dominick Dijuan Primes died early Saturday at a hospital in the Texas city, after authorities said parties inside of two vehicles on a freeway began shooting at each other late Friday, according to multiple reports.

Two of the injured victims were bystanders, Fort Worth Police said.

A caller first reported the shooting at approximately 10 p.m. Friday, saying she heard several gunshots near her home in Fort Worth. One of the gunshots went through a window in her home and hit her husband in the arm, according to multiple reports.

Another stray bullet also hit a woman in a separate vehicle near the gunfire, Fort Worth Police spokesperson Officer Tracey Carter told NBC News.

All five of the injured victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No suspects have been charged in connection to the gunfire.

Police said they believed the shooting was gang related, although they did not immediately confirm any evidence.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, according to multiple reports, including how many shooters were involved.
